Prestige Property Watch of the Golden Isles, of Saint Simons Island, GA, has gained Accredited Member status in the National Home Watch Association. 

Owners Jim and Heather Delamarter are full-time residents of Saint Simons Island, a Glynn County community in Coastal Georgia.

Heather received a communications degree from Florida State University and is actively involved in marketing and sales for their business. Jim has spent most of his career in boat sales and insurance restoration.

Living much of their lives along the east and west coasts of Florida and Georgia, Jim and Heather have been witnesses to hurricanes, tornadoes and floods. Being in the disaster recovery business for 16 years they, too, understand the challenges property owners face in having a vacant second home or rental-income property. Heather feels that people need peace of mind, knowing that an experienced professional is looking after their place in their absence, and that the professional is highly capable of protecting their most valuable asset.

After finishing a water, fire or mold restoration project, many clients stop and ask, “How could this problem in my home have been avoided?” After hearing this a number of times, Jim and Heather decided to open Prestige Property Watch, so that they could go a step further in their line of work to help customers better manage their properties by offering maintenance and preventive measures. They want to be proactive and hopefully avoid the worst perils from happening.

Cottage Comforts House Watch & Home Owner Services, of Kitty Hawk, NC, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA. 

President Steve Keller has over 23 years’ experience in Maryland law enforcement, starting with the Hagerstown City Police and then with the Howard County Police Department, retiring in 1999. During his law enforcement career, he worked and served as a supervisor in Patrol, Crime Prevention & Community Relations, Criminal Investigations, Public Information, and Research and Planning. He received two departmental citations and five Governor’s Crime Prevention Awards. Steve earned degrees in Criminal Justice (A.A.) and Management (B.S.). He is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the Howard County Police Retired Officers Association.

In 1999, Steve joined CNF Corporate Security Services, managing security for numerous logistics projects and facility development. In 2003, Steve transitioned to Menlo Worldwide Security (a CNF component company), where he served as Senior Security Manager and later as Acting Director of Security, with responsibility for all investigations worldwide and security oversight of logistics and air cargo components.

In 2005, Steve purchased a local existing concierge business, but it was not the model envisioned in a business plan he wrote during classes at the University of Maryland, so he established Coastal Homeowner Services and Security Consulting LLC in Kitty Hawk, which provides security consulting services for supply-chain management companies. Keeping the “Cottage Comforts” part of the name from the business he had bought, Steve registered his dba as Cottage Comforts House Watch & Home Owner Services, which provides weekly physical inspections, vendor management, alarm management, and other services for non-resident homeowners.

Steve’s wife, Tammy, helps with the business administrative issues but has a full-time career of her own. Steve and Tammy have been married for 23 years. They have a son and two grandchildren.

When he’s not working, Steve and Tammy travel and spend time at the beach. Steve also enjoys playing golf.

Plan B Home Services, of Cave Creek, AZ, has gained Accredited Member status for the fourth consecutive year.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, owner Pete Playman grew up enjoying the quality of life that Arizona provides.  He embarked on a career in the housing construction arena after his first passion, criminology and forensic science.

In 1982, Pete found a strong interest and satisfaction within the sticks and bricks of the home-building industry at different levels which he found interesting, challenging, and rewarding, providing supervision, quality control, and customer care. Pete furthered his interest and knowledge by obtaining his Home Inspector certificate from the International Residential Code Council. He also holds a State of Arizona General Contractor's license.

By understanding the challenges and concerns that the Arizona homeowner faces with a vacant home, landscaping, and swimming pool, launching Plan B Home Services was a no-brainer for Pete and the perfect fit for utilizing his 30-plus years in the Phoenix housing arena in proactively assisting the Arizona resident and winter visitor when they are miles away.

With a keen eye for details, home building, and diagnostic experience, Plan B Home Services provides more than the status quo in Home Watch services. Plan B Home Services not only provides peace of mind that your home will be secure and operating smoothly in your absence, but allows you to maximize your enjoyment while you're in residence.

Every day is different, and having the opportunity to work and share experiences with so many individuals from all walks of life is a big part of what Pete enjoys about providing Home Watch services.

Pete and his wife, Patricia, moved from Paradise Valley to the Cave Creek area north of Phoenix to enjoy the milder and cooler temperatures and quiet evenings. Family is a big part of their lives, and in their spare time they enjoy their three children and six grandchildren, entertaining and incognito beach-bumming and body surfing at Southern California beaches. Pete also enjoys trout fishing in northern Arizona lakes and streams.

Iowa is in the house!

Lakes Home Guardian, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

Owner Kelly Greenfield and his wife, Amber, moved to the Lakes region three years ago, but they’ve been visiting the area their entire lives. Over the past few years, Kelly has been performing informal Home Watch services for family and friends. After their own year-round home was burglarized in the fall of 2013, Kelly felt the great need for a Home Watch service to help be the eyes and ears when residents leave town for a family trip or close up their vacation homes at the end of the summer season. Upon careful research and getting feedback from homeowners in the area, Kelly decided to make it official and launched Lakes Home Guardian.

Kelly graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies. He has been working as a Design Engineer in the area for the past seven years.
