Golden West Home Watch, of Huntington Beach, CA, has joined the NHWA!

Jack Luber, Executive Director

Greetings and salutations!

Golden West Home Watch, of Huntington Beach, CA, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

President Peter Yoss had a small moving and removal company on Long Island, New York, from 1974 through 1979. In 1980, he moved his family to California and started Golden West Moving. The growth of the company began slowly, but through their dedication and providing the best service possible, recommendations and repeat business began to expand his little company. Today, Golden West Moving, Inc. is a very large, successful company.

In July of 2014, he felt that the marriage of Home Watch and moving was a good one and launched Golden West Home Watch, which he is very excited and proud to introduce. Peter feels that having established relationships with people in the realty industry is a good basis for networking this type of endeavor.

Hood Canal Home Watch of Washington State has joined the NHWA!

Jack Luber, Executive Director

Greetings and salutations!

Hood Canal Home Watch, of Hood Canal, WA, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

Together, owners Mike and Mary Wingren have over two decades of business ownership in the customer-service industry. They chose to close down their previous business in 2000, as Mary was in the final year of earning her degree in Interior Design. Mike went on to work for a large national company.

For the last 12 years, Mary has pursued a career as a designer/project manager for a couple of residential home builders in Gig Harbor and Silverdale. This time allowed her to connect with all phases of construction, from a simple bathroom to whole-house remodels. She liked designing and retrofitting houses for the physical limitations of her clients most of all. “It's exciting to give a person the freedom and independence to live comfortably and safely in their own home,” says Mary. She looks at all remodeling requests as an opportunity to create ease of use through universal design techniques.

While Mary creates beneficial changes, Mike is the one who keeps all the plates spinning. He is a natural “fix-it” guru, with a large touch of geek, too. Everything in their home seems to have computer-driven components. Mike brings his resourcefulness and technical knowledge to repair everything from heat pumps, appliances, and sprinkler systems to general maintenance of a home. Combined, Mike and Mary make a knowledgeable, creative team in the maintenance needs for your home.

Mike and Mary decided to start Hood Canal Home Watch because of their desire to work in a creative team environment while meeting the obvious needs of their community. Their construction background and experience are a perfect fit with the Home Watch services they offer.

As lifetime Washingtonians, Mike and Mary love the mountains, hiking through the Olympics and boating on Hood Canal. With the four distinct seasons, the outdoors always draws their hearts. Living close to nature and the beauty of the old-growth forests in their back yard, combined with the friendliness of living in a small town, are the reasons that make Hood Canal area such a special place for them.

Greetings and salutations!

Albany Home Watch, LLC, of Latham, NY, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

Owner Lisa Hogan has been a life-long resident of Albany, NY.  Lisa started Albany Home Watch this spring after realizing there was a need for Home Watch services for the many “snowbirds” who leave their homes in the Capital Region area of NY to travel down South for the winter months.

Lisa started her career in healthcare, working in nursing homes and rehab facilities for 13 years.  Ready to make a change, she began taking business classes and received a degree in Business Administration.  She has worked in various business settings for the past 10 years.   Lisa has been an active member in her community, volunteering as a school PTA Treasurer and President, PTA Council Vice President, and Little League Baseball Treasurer. She also volunteers for the American Diabetes Association Tour De Cure in Saratoga Springs, NY, each year.

Lisa and her husband own a second home on Sacandaga Lake, in the foothills of the Adirondacks, so she knows the importance of having someone keeping a watchful eye on homes when they are going to be unoccupied for an extended period of time. She has been watching homes for friends and family members informally for years. Lisa is committed to providing personalized, reliable service to every client she serves. Her company’s mission is to bring peace of mind to anyone leaving one of his or her most valuable assets behind.
