GulfGetaway Guardians, of Foley, Alabama, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

Owners Dave and Debbie Gatti were introduced to Home Watch services the hard way. Arriving at their Destin, FL, vacation home one night, they discovered, to their horror, that their water heater had burst, flooding most of the house and ruining their wood floors, carpets and furniture. Most of their vacation was spent doing just about everything but relaxing.

Friends told them about a home-monitoring service they had used, which performed “walk-throughs” of the property and reported on any problems. How much cost and hassle might that have saved them? The company also offered grocery shopping and home set-up prior to their arrival. From then on, Debbie and Dave were vacationing from the moment they arrived!

Debbie and Dave lived in Marietta, GA, for years, raising a family of two kids and then four grandkids, while still owning their beach property in Destin. Debbie had grown up in Alabama and spent many summers vacationing on the Gulf. Dave owned a marketing company that for many years had serviced Home Depot and Lowe’s with flooring and other building materials. Buying foreclosed homes to refurbish and resell provided him with invaluable experience identifying home “issues” and knowing how to fix them.

In November of 2013, two years after David retired, Debbie retired as marketing director for a large Atlanta-area law firm after 17 years, and they made the move to Gulf Shores. Like most active retirees, they decided they wanted to keep busy, and Gulf Getaway Guardians was born.

Debbie says this is the perfect retirement business for their personalities. They’ve been enjoying the beach and the slower pace of life, meeting great people, and savoring all the wonderful restaurants and events in the Gulf Shores area. They are also looking forward to providing their clients with great service and becoming one of the best Home Watch companies in Alabama.

Fort Hood House Watch of Gatesville, TX, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA!

U.S. Army veteran Ruth Ann Beal learned a lot in the military. She learned to “Treat others as you want to be treated, and always do the right thing…even when no one is watching.” This has become Ruth Ann’s mantra, and is exactly how she operates Fort Hood House Watch.

Born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, Ruth Ann joined the Army straight out of high school and served in the military for 20 years. With her background in electronics and contract negotiation, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology in 2003. Once she retired from the Army, Ruth Ann worked overseas as a contractor, continuing to support the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for four years, repairing roadside bomb-detection equipment. It was during her time abroad that she learned how important it was to have someone she trusted looking after her home. This resulted in the idea for Fort Hood Home Watch.

Ruth Ann learned all about homes and properties, having bought and sold homes for 15 years. She actually enjoys the yard work and maintenance that comes with home ownership!

Always having been a behind-the-scenes people person, Ruth Ann enjoys taking care of other people’s needs and putting smiles on their faces because of a job well done….

Home Watch, a Service of Howard L. Clyman Environmental Consulting, of Boca Raton, Florida, has gained second year Accredited Member status in the NHWA. 

Since 2003, Howard has provided SE Florida with home and mold inspections, home repairs and project management. He has a very impressive résumé, which includes the following certifications: ITA Certified Mold Inspector - 2003; AHIT Certified Home Inspector - 2005; ESA Allergen Certified - 2005; SETI Residential Radon Certified - 2007; and EMSL Industrial Hygiene - 2007. And, as the chief inspector at Nelam International Corp., he maintained an “A” rating from the Better Business Bureau. 

Howard is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Milwaukee Institute of Technology. Past experience includes television news and management positions. He has resided in Florida since 1989 and has served as President of his community HOA for the past four years.

Because of Howard's vast expertise with the ins-and-outs of homes, as well as his HOA experience, he and Sarah, his wife of 46 years, are well-positioned to provide that “next-door neighbor” protection for clients who are looking for the ultimate in a Home Watch service. 

Sarah, too, brings a unique aspect to their Home Watch service. Born in England and raised in Wisconsin, she has over 40 years of experience in the business world. Sarah is a Virtual Assistant, providing a wide variety of services for her clients. She also makes jewelry! Sarah and Howard have two married sons and one grandchild.

Eagle EyeHome Watch & Concierge, of Sound Beach, New York, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

Founder and President Ryan Owens has been in the home improvement, skilled trades, and commercial industries for over 20 years. He saw the need for Home Watch services one afternoon when he was sitting poolside in Florida at a friend’s home. The friend only used the house for vacations and was rarely there. Ryan started thinking about how many people there are in a similar situation. He realized that with his background and knowledge he had about the upkeep and maintenance of home and property, Home Watch would be a great fit. After researching the industry and speaking with other Home Watch business owners, Ryan saw the need for his services.

Ryan has been married for 11 years and has two sons. His hobbies include camping and relaxing on the beach, either on Long Island or in Florida, where he has family.

Always Dependable Home Care of Port St. Lucie, Florida, has gained Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

Owners Martha and Jack Black were starting out on a vacation when the idea for Always Dependable Home Care (ADHC) was born. It occurred to them that it would be good to have someone watching their home while they were gone, but who? They had no family members living near them and were new to the neighborhood. A Home Watch business seemed to be the perfect answer to their concerns and those of their friends and neighbors who are seasonal residents. After moving from Jupiter, FL, they launched their business in September of 2014, dedicated to bringing peace of mind to their clients.  

Jack and Martha have owned and maintained many homes in the Northeast and Florida. They are honest, ethical people who have the skills that come with education and life experience. Jack is a retired military veteran and has over forty years of military and civil service experience. He maintained a Secret Security Clearance the entire 40-year period. He holds an MBA from Temple University and is a PhD candidate. He has established several successful businesses in New Jersey and Ft. Lauderdale.

Martha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications/Organizational Business and has recently retired from administrative/managerial positions in the private sector as well as academia. She was a consumer affairs specialist for a large pharmaceutical company in New Jersey and established a tutoring business geared to middle-school children with reading deficiencies. She also enjoys reading, needlework, and playing piano. Between them, they have four children and six grandchildren.
